CAMs published for the lavanolo service

The Minister of the Environment Sergio Costa signed the Decree "Minimum environmental criteria for the assignment of the industrial washing and rental service of textiles and mattresses". The Decree, published in the Official Journal of 4 January 2021, therefore has as its object the washing service, i.e. the rental and washing of tablecloths, sheets and the like by canteens, hospitals, schools, prisons, barracks, etc.; this service includes, in whole or in part, the activities of reconditioning, logistics and rental of textile devices,mattresses and pillows,high visibility clothing as well as sterilemedical devices.

"With this new decree - says the Minister of the Environment - in line with the objectives of reducing the environmental impact set out in the Action Plan for environmental sustainability and consumptionin the public administration adopted in 2008, the aim is to give a boost to energy and water efficiency and to the reduction of the use of dangerous substances in rental and washing processes by companies interested in accessing public administration contracts. This guarantees the quality of the all-round service: from an environmental, health, performance point of view".

The use of appropriate water filtration and reuse systems in order to reduce their consumption, the use of cleaners and chemicals that are less harmful to the environment to reduce hazardous substances, the implementation of environmental management measures and the management and control of  biocontamination, are just some of the environmental criteria laid down in the document.

L’utilizzo di idonei sistemi di filtraggio e riutilizzo dell’acqua al fine di ridurne il consumo, l’uso di detergenti e sostanze chimiche meno nocive per l’ambiente per la ridurre le sostanze pericolose, l’attuazione di misure di environmental management e di gestione e controllo della biocontaminazione, sono solo alcuni dei criteri ambientali previsti dal documento.

With the entry into force of these CAM, contracting stations are obliged to apply them for thepurchase orrental of textile products that may be: textile plan (for the health sector, for catering, other care facilities, detention facilities, etc.); work clothes, high-visibility clothing and personal protective equipment; reusable technical fabric kits; towels and gowns of different sizes; mattresses and other categories of textiles treated in industrial laundry services and used by contracting stations.

Con l’entrata in vigore dei presenti CAM, le stazioni appaltanti sono obbligate ad applicarli per l’acquisto o il noleggio di prodotti tessili che possono essere: il tessile piano (per il settore sanitario, per la ristorazione, per le altre strutture assistenziali, detentive etc.); gli indumenti da lavoro, gli indumenti ad alta visibilità e i dispositivi di protezione individuale; i kit in tessuto tecnico riutilizzabile; i teli ed i camici di diverse dimensioni; la materasseria ed altre categorie di tessili trattate nei servizi di lavanderia industriale ed usate dalle stazioni appaltanti.
